Miskolctapolca, 17th March, 2020. Avalon International School, the first international private school in Miskolc, has opened its doors in September 2019. The institution teaches according to British education as EYFS and Cambridge Educational programmes. Its building – with its stunning equipment – reflects the values represented by the school, such as having modern and state of the art facilities which meet or even exceed the technical requirements of 21st century education. For that reason, AIS can face the challenges that the epidemic situation brought – as fully prepared.
With regard of government decisions, education of Avalon International School will organize around digital school material and virtual classroom distance learning. “Our institution is fully prepared for digital education because our teachers and students have already applied and used 21st century technical possibilities in the classrooms and at home.”– said Tünde Oláh, Principal of Avalon International School.
Teachers have already used Zoment – the school management system – to inform parents and to keep in touch with them since the beginning of this school year, the application will also work as a virtual classroom from next week.
On that platform nursery, primary school students and their teachers can see each other at the same time. The teachers and the students can share their screen with the others in the virtual classroom, so instead of smart boards, they will use a “smart screen” from home. Thanks for the Zoment, they can ensure education without any problem for the children.
Apart from Zoment application, AIS provides modern digital education with other teaching applications, too. With the use of “Mathletics” teachers can give individual mathematical tasks for each student. With the program the teacher can also see how the students are progressing and how well they are achieving. It gives a feedback to both students and teachers, so they can see who needs more practice to fill the gaps. English language has an important role in the school, since the education is delivered in English. This will not change while the students are learning from home due to the virtual classrooms with their native speaking teachers, RAZ-Kids and Spelling City programmes. Those applications have already had a great role in teaching and learning and practicing the language so it will be familiar to the students. Just like in the classroom, in the school, they will use Cambridge University Press textbooks during online learning. Those books will be available as e-books and audiobooks in case of virtual classroom teaching.
Besides all the reading series, which can be found in the school library, there will be lots of e-books and audio e-books sent to the children so the students can read them from home.
Education in Avalon International School continues digitally from the second day of the week according to the timetable both in nursery and primary school. In this hard situation, the management and teachers of the school find it very important to provide teaching for their students of all ages on the same high level just like it used to be.
